🇪🇸 La Gomera

I have to say: there's something about hiking in a T-shirt and shorts in January at 22 degrees - I didn't know that before 😉

A very small round to acclimatize today. Deep valleys, impressive washed out rock faces, alpine paths and wonderful views - exciting here! 😊

Hoping to be fog-free today, we went to the large hiking car park Pajarito. The goal was the Roque de Algado, the landmark of La Gomera. This small tour does not have many meters in altitude, mostly on a narrow path (GR 131 😄) on rocky or wooden steps the few meters of altitude overcome. Impressive… leggi altro

After the sun came out in San Sebastian, the hope for a small tour rose again. Since the laurel forest with its moss-covered trees was on the way back, we started a small but really nice tour.

With a light drizzle and fog we went to an enchanted forest at its best. Can hardly describe what a great picture… leggi altro

On the GR 131 we hiked a bit towards Fortaleza, the table mountain, a great mountain range

- not strenuous, hardly any altitude difference - wonderful! Caught cool paths again, everything was there - rocky, needle-soft, earthy or stony. After every curve it looks different, sometimes under huge pines… leggi altro

Not sure where to start, I first decided on the highest point on the island. 😊

On La Gomera this is the Alto de Garajonay with its 1483 vertical meters.

The first 2.7 kilometers ran along a beautiful trail parallel to the "main road" (a car, a bus passed!) along the edge of the national park, where the… leggi altro

Today we went from Arure above the Valle Grand Rey along the ridge to the beginning of the valley, to the Riscos de La Merica, a wonderful vantage point down to the port of Grand Rey - a single tree is visible from afar, can also be seen from the valley below) Up the whole round wonderful views down… leggi altro

After it rained this morning we decided to visit the "capital" San Sebastian. The sun was even shining on this side of the island.

The inner city has a small pedestrian zone - a small city park - a nice church with a Padre Jose statue - the port with the ferries to Tenerife and a large construction site… leggi altro

In a very strange hazy light, because of the current Sahara wind, we started from the hiking car park. The first viewpoint, the Mirador de Alojera, was not far. However, there was not much to see from Alojera, the houses down in the valley were very faint, the steep mountains just seeing through a veil… leggi altro

The last small tour on this beautiful island took us to the rather poor Alojera, a bit off the tourist track.
